The Asian American Poetry in America is a rich body of poetic works which, on the one hand, provides valuable materials for us to understand the lives and experiences of Asian American poets, on the other hand, offers us an opportunity to examine some of the most important issues in current literary and culture studies. The content of Li-Young Lee's prize-winning books of poetry is plentiful. His writing techniques are meticulous and faithful. His poems present the authentic life and emotions of Chinese Americans. Some critics attempt to explain his poetry by only emphasizing his Chinese ethnicity while ignoring the original creation ideas, which will cause decipherment of ethnocentrism and parochialism. Through an analysis of the food and the way of eating food, the author tries to exposit how the poet expresses his own construction and invention of reddening the racial marks invisible and brings the new ideas in Chinese American literature by using the Chinese culture in a strategic way.
