Based on analysis of weakpoints of the traditional non eccentric vertical formation roll groove,the new concept of eccentric vertical formation roll groove is put forward. Detailed in the paper are such aspects of the eccentric vertical formation roll as structural characterisitics, funtion, eccentric position and setting of eccentricity as well as results of relevant experiments. The eccentric vertical formation roll can not only increase deformation amount of the tube, reduce roll wear, prolong the service life, but also provide easy adjustment and better quality of welded pipes.
