现代大学理念的反思与大学使命

Reflections of the Idea of Modern University and Its Mission

以纽曼与洪堡为代表的经典理性主义大学理念在今天已经式微,以威斯康星为代表的实用主义大学理念在蓬勃兴起中不断变异,而以"学术资本主义"为代表的功利主义大学理念正在或已经被现代大学奉为圭臬。面对日益功利化、工具化的社会,大学人文精神日渐消解与丧失。时代对大学发出了本质追问,我们必须回答:什么是现代大学的理念和大学使命。

'Academic capitalism',which stands for utilitarian idea of universities,is now being looked up to,or has already been looked up to,as a standard by modern universities.The humanist spirit that should exist inherently in universities,is now being gradually desalinized or cleared up.But the age we live in sets up the essential question,namely what are the idea and the mission of universities? And we have to give our answers to this question.
