An Approach to the Surface Precondition and Coating Technology of Plastic Lens

This paper introduces the properties of plastic lens and the basic principle ofvacuum coating. The surface precondition methods of plastic lens are described whichis the initial stage before coating. Several basic considerations in selecting opticalthin-film materials are discussed. We focus on the chemical stability of materialduring evaporation process, the firmness of film, the optical and desired physicalproperties. The technological process of coating on plastic lens is explicated. Thereis also an analysis on the subordinate relation between some key properties of thefilm and evaporation conditions which are always the decisive factors.
