英语专业课堂教师母语使用的数量、功能和原因调查 被引量:13

The amount, purposes and reasons for using L1 in university English-major classrooms

摘要 本研究通过对上海某大学英语专业一年级精读课程的三位教师进行录音、录像以及追溯式访谈,并对所得语料进行定性与定量分析,探讨英语专业课堂里教师的母语使用量、母语的教学功能以及使用母语的原因。调查显示:教师的母语使用量较高,尤其是用于翻译、个人评论、翻译练习和实现元语言功能时;教师使用母语的原因多样,涉及学术、情感及自身因素等多个方面;教师使用母语的意识仍不清晰。基于调查结果,本文建议教师减少母语使用量,鼓励教师通过对语码转换行为进行反思来改进相关教学。 Drawing on the data from audio- and video-recording and stimulated recall,this study examines the amount,purpose and reasons why three Integrated Reading instructors use the mother tongue (L1 hereafter) in the classroom of English majors.Results reveal that the instructors overuse L1,especially in achieving four purposes: translation,personal comment,translation drills and metalinguistics.The instructors use L1 for other reasons,including pedagogical and affective consideration and personal factors.It is suggested that the instructors need to develop a clearer awareness of how L1 can be used to facilitate learning.
