摘要 高性能计算机、宽带通讯网络与高密度存储设备的飞速发展,使处理、传输、存储海量信息已成可能。然而,信息并不等于知识,目前绝大多数的信息没有充分利用。“堆积如山”的信息已形成了巨大的信息矿床。“挖掘”信息矿床,即选择、识别、理解与译读信息,把信息变成知识,成为21 世纪信息技术应用的主要瓶颈之一。智能信息处理研究图像、语音和自然语言的计算机识别与理解,它不仅是更高的人机交互方式的主要技术源泉,而且是知识挖掘的技术基础。知识挖掘的目标是将大量非结构化的多媒体信息,融合成有序的、分层次的、易于理解的信息,并进一步转换成可用于预测与决策的知识。本文介绍与此有关的一些学科内容,以及当前在研究、开发与应用等各层次的发展现状。 With the significant advance of the high performance computing,wide band communication,and the high density storage capacity,it has been possible to process,transmit and to store huge volume of information.But information is not equivalent to the knowledge.Actually,most of the information is not efficiently made use of.Such huge volume of information can be considered as a huge mineral resource.“Mining” this information resource,or in other words,information selection,recognition,understanding,or in other words,to translate it to the “knowledge”, has been becoming the main bottleneck of the wide application of information technology in the 21st century.The objectives of the intelligent information processing are the recognition and understanding of image,speech and natural language.It is not only the main technology of the new and more efficient human machine interface,but also the technology base of the knowledge discovery.By the knowledge discovery,the nonstructured multimedia information can be transformed and fused to structured,multi leveled,understandable informatoin,and furthermore,to the knowledge,which can be used for the purpose of prediction and decision.In this paper,we present the objectives,the state art and the perspective of the intelligent information processing and its related disciplines.Some research and development activities in China in this area are also presented.
