Re-evaluating the May 4th Movement

"五四"完成了反帝和提倡科学的历史使命,但是还有一个使命没完成,就是民主的使命。要继承"五四",就要反思历史的功过,必须有一个纠过的任务,即把打倒孔夫子、全盘反传统这个偏纠正过来,应该把最根本的"仁"道树立起来,才可重塑中华民族的核心价值观。

While the May 4th Movement accomplished its missions of fighting imperialism and advocating science, it failed in its democratic enterprise. To benefit from the legacy of this movement, we must correct a mistake that the movement committed： the abolishment of Confucianism and the traditional culture. Unless we re -establish humanity we cannot restore our national core value system.
