Efficacy of Pungent Herbs in YE Tian-shi's Prescription

清代名医叶天士遣药组方擅长性味合化之道。采用研读原著与数据库检索的方法,研究了《临证指南医案》叶氏脉案处方中辛味药的运用经验。结果表明叶氏使用辛味药的规律与特色主要体现在以下7个方面:辛以散邪、辛以开气、辛以通之、辛以胜酸、辛以胜甘、辛以试诊、用辛禁忌。其经验是对药性理论的丰富,对临床医生也具有非常实用的指导意义。

Theory of nature and flavour is the core content of traditional Chinese medicine herbs theory. Well-known famous doctor YE Tian-shi in Qing Dynasty is very familiar with this theory. The purpose of this study was to obtain his experience used pungent herbs in his the prescription by the method of reading the original Linzheng Zhinan Yi＇an, guide to clinical practice with medical case＇ and searching database. The results showed that his experience with pungent herbs are the following seven ： dispe^e evils with pungent herbs, open the valve with pungent herbs, with the pungent herbs to smooth vascular or to run the Yang, with the pungent herbs to restrict the acid and the sweet, pungent medicine can be used as diagnostic agents and pungent drugs contraindication. The results have rreat clinical value and significance in herbal nature and flavour theory.
