The caprolactam production and consumption situation and development trend were introduced in China and abroad. The world caprolactam production capacity achieved a steady growth and exceeded 4 980 kt/a in 2010. The newly-developed pro- duction capacity is centered in Asia. The caprolactam industry situation was analyzed in China. The suggestion was put forward on the development of China eaprolactam industry, including developing the caprolactam industry based on production technolo- gies, raw material and industrial chain, increasing the self-supply rate, accelerating the application research of down-stream products, developing the commercial production technology having the independent intellectual property, realizing clean produc- tion.
