A Much-told Story about Confucius' Non-governmental Diplomacy

民间外交是当代很流行的一个概念，当然也是当代很普遍、很时兴的一种外交方式和行为。西方国家曾有学者经过专门的考察，提出民间外交肇始于数百年前的欧洲。事实上，这个说法是根本不能成立的。中国第一部纪传体通史——《史记》就明确、翔实地记载了一次非常成功的民间外交活动，而这项活动的幕后策划和导演就是孔子。

Currently, non-governmental diplomacy is a very popular concept and a kind of risingdiplomatic mode. Through studies, some western scholars asserted that the nongovernmental diplomacy origLnated from Europe several hundred years ago. In fact, in Historical Records, China＇s first general historical work presented in a series of biographies, there was the record of some successful nongovernmental diplomacy, which was planned and directed by Confucius.
