Chinese cabbages with POL cytoplasmic male sterility( CMS) were sown at different dates in 1 992— 1 995 to study the effect of atmospheric temperature on their sterility.Materials used in this experiment could be classified into threetypes,the lightsensitivity to low temperature,the medium sensitivity to low tempera ture and the high sensitivity to low temperature.Thecriticalvaluesofdaily mean temperature were 1 0℃ ,1 3℃ and 1 6℃ respectively and the criticalvalues ofthe daily lowesttemperature were 5℃ ,8℃ and 1 2℃ respectively.Inter valbetween the temperature influence and the fertility expression ofthe CMS was about1 0— 1 2 days.The sterile plantrate and sterile degree ofthese materials sown after Dec.5 stably reached 1 0 0 %and 95 %ormore.Two CMS lines of Chinese cabbage A3 and A1 1 were obtained in this study.
