Overview of Worldwide Earthquake Disasters in the First Half of the Year 1999

１９９９ 年上半年全世界地震灾害总水平偏低，共发生Ｍ Ｓ≥６ 地震４９ 次（±５ 次），其中Ｍ Ｓ≥７ 地震３ 次。全世界地震造成的死亡人数总计为２ １２８ 人， 伤约６ ０００ 人； 经济损失约１０ 亿美元。主要灾害地震发生在哥伦比亚、阿富汗、印度、伊朗和墨西哥。

During the first half of the year 1999,the general level of worldwide earthquake disasters was slightly low.There were 49 earthquakes of M S≥6 occurring all over the world,including 3 earthquakes of M S≥7. Altogether in the world 2 128 people died, about 6 000 people injured and 1 billion US dollars of economic losses caused by earthquakes.The significant disastrous earthquakes occurred in Columbia,Afghanistan,India,Iran and Mexico.
