张岱年先生在国内理论界对中国传统伦理学说基本问题的论争中,提出了自己颇具特色的中国伦理学说的基本问题,即人性问题,即道德起源问题;道德的最高原则与道德规范的问题;礼仪与衣食的关系问题,即道德与社会经济的关系问题;"义利"、"理欲"问题,即公利与私利的关系问题以及道德理想与物质利益的关系问题;"力命"、"义命"问题,即客观必然性与主观意志自由的问题;"志功"问题,即动机与效果的问题;道德在天地之间的意义,即伦理学与本体论的关系问题;修养方法问题,即道德修养及其最高境界的问题。张岱年先生所阐释的中国传统伦理学说的基本问题,有助于人们对中国传统伦理学说的历史进程和基本问题有个比较整体的把握;对深入研究中国传统道德哲学、弘扬传统美德及建设社会主义道德具有重要意义。

Mr.Zhang Dainian has put forward his views with Chinese color on a number of basic questions in the field of Chinese ethics in the controversy about the domestic theoretical circle of the Chinese traditional ethics,that is,human nature（i.e.the origin of morality）,the highest principle and the scope of ethics,the relationship between the etiquette and the clothing and food（i.e.the relationship between morality and social economy）,views on ＂righteousness＂ and ＂reason and desire＂（i.e.the relationship between personal interest and collective interest and that between morality desire and material interest）,views on ＂life force＂ and ＂meaning of life＂（i.e.objective necessity and subjective will of freedom）,views on ＂chi gong＂（i.e.the questions about purpose and effect）,the significance of the morality between the heaven and the earth（i.e.the relation between ethics and ontology）,and cultivation method（i.e.morality and its highest level）.The basic views from Zhang Dainian on the traditional Chinese ethics are helpful for the people to understand quite completely the historical development and the basic views of the traditional Chinese ethics and are of great significance for them to study the traditional Chinese ethics substantially,popularize the traditional morality and the construction of socialist morality in China.
