Development of the Ethnic Communities along the Hexi Corridor

以社区民众为对象,以调查数据分析为基础,分析了河西走廊民族社区发展的经济、政治、社会和文化生活等方面的基本面貌,测量了社区民众的态度、评价和认知。提出河西走廊民族社区历史底蕴深厚,自然和人文资源禀赋优异,目前社区发展较好。然其发展仍是传统意义上的发展,不具有可持续性;经济上过于依赖传统畜牧业和矿产资源开采业,导致脆弱的生态难以支撑;政治、社会和文化生活上社区民众参与度不高,导致内源动力不足。这成为制约其协调、可持续发展的两个关键因素。

Based on a statistic analysis, the authors sort out the realistic characteristics of the development of ethnic communities in Hexi corridor, and the economic, political, social and cultural conditions of these communities. Despite their glamourous history, rich natural and cultural resources, and the improvement made in the past years, the development of these communities is non-sustainable and traditional. On the one hand, the fragile ecosystem is difficult to support the development of the economy that is heavily dependent on traditional animal husbandry and mineral resource exploitation. On the other hand, the lack of sufficient participation by the members of these communities in the economic, political, social and cultural life causes a lack of internal driving force. These have been two crucial factors which have constrained the sustainable development of this area.
