Breaking the Shackles of Tradition： On Female Images in Modern Translated Literature

近代中国社会经历着巨大的变迁，翻译文学被当作启蒙和教诲的工具而得到大力提倡，蓬勃发展，同时翻译文学中的西方女性形象很自然地成为西方文明的某种象征，传统的性别观念和西方的、现代的性别观念在翻译文学中相遭遇，产生了冲突从而影响主体文化的女性形象。

Modern China having undergone the tremendous vicissitudes, translated literature was considered as a means of enlightenment and edification, which was energetically advocated and booming, meanwhile, female images in translated lit- erature became some symbol of western civilization quite naturally. Traditional gender views encountered western and mod- ern gender views in translated literature, arising conflicts as so to impact female images in the subject culture.
