文化意象“Milky Way”与“牛奶路”互译考据及再商榷

英汉两种语言的差异中，两种不同的语言文化对翻译有着深远的影响。文化差异的因素对翻译至关重要。而文化意象的处理历来是翻译中一大难题。本文针对意象翻译的典型例子赵景深所译“牛奶路”进行讨论，采用对比论证的方法通过对MilkyWay的词源以及在希腊神话传说中文化渊源的考察，加之对中国人和西方人就天河意象上的比较与互译探讨以及对原文语境的回顾，对赵译“牛奶路”进行了再度审视和探讨，较为全面、客观地论证了赵译的不确和合理之处以及某些学者观点的失当，进而指出了文化差异和文化意象的处理在翻译过程中的举足轻重的地位，以及译者在翻译文化意象时应加强文化意识，秉持仔细考究、多方论证的态度。

Among the differences between English and Chinese, the various languages as well as cultures have far-reaching implications for translation, in which the factor of cultural differentation is of overwhelming importance. Translation is the translingual and transcultural interaction, so how to tackle the cultural image is a demanding problem.. Through the translation of the typical examples of image translation Milky Way by Zhao Jingshen in the 1920＇ s, the paper conducts a hot discussion, analyzing and summerizing the inexactness and advantages of Zhao＇ s translation as well as the inappropriatenesses of some scholar＇ s viewpoints . Through the comparative study, this paper explores the image ＂Milky Way＂ through its etymology and its cultural source in Greek and Roman legends , makes a comparison between the image of the Galaxy in the eyes of Chinese with that of Westerners, and evaluates their translations. The discussion as well as retrospection on the original text of ＂Milky Way＂ points out the significant role of dealing with cultural difference and cultural image to indicate that translators should take the precautious attitide and prove the conclusion comprehensively. As translation is not only a transfer between languages but also a communicaiton between cultures, translators should strengthen their cultural-awareness in the process of translating so as to break through the barrier of cultural differences and construct a bridge of cultural communication.
