吴宓是一位秉承了“独立之精神，自由之思想”的具有独立性格的知识分子，他在中国现代文学史上占重要地位。他开中国比较文学研究之先河，在中国的欧美文学、语言教学研究中培养了一代英才，我们没有理由忘记他。
Wu Mi was an intellectual who was independent both in his mind and action, taking orders of the spirit of independence. Wu Mi had a high place in the history of Chinese modem literature. He initiated the comparative literature research in China, cultivating a number of prominent talents in the teaching of and researches on the European and American Literature as well as linguistics, we have no reason to forget him.
