1998年,中国长江发生了百年不遇的特大洪水。这场洪灾使鄱阳湖保护区的越冬水禽受到了严重威胁。除鹤类的食物大大减少外,越冬白鹤的数量减少65%,白头鹤减少30%,白枕鹤减少74%,灰鹤减少79%,大鸨减少95%,鸿雁减少65%,天鹅减少74%。目前,该保护区正在积极采取措施,设法恢复越冬水禽的数量。
In 1998, the greastest flood in a century occurred in the Yangtze River. This catastrophe seriously threatened the wintering waterfowl Poyanghu Reserve by causing foods of waterfowl to decrease tremendously. The wintering populations of White Crane decreased 65%, Hooded Crane decreased 30%, White-naped Crane decreased 74%, Common Crane decreased 79%, Great Bustard decreased 95%, Swan Goose decreased 65%, while Swan decreased 74%. At present, acctive efforts at the reserve are being made in the hopes of recovering these and other wintering waterfowl populations.
