Objective: To examine the evaluation of different gaze directions and sexual dimorphism cues on facial attractiveness by college students with different partner status. Methods: FantaMorph 4.0 software was used to operate sexual dimorphism cues by sexual dimorphism method, and to gain facial stimulus with different gaze direction through Adobe PhotoshopTM.Results: The evaluation on the direct gaze faces was significantly higher than the averted versions; The evaluation on masculine face was significantly higher than the feminine ones; The evaluation on facial attractiveness of un-partnered subjects was significantly higher than the partnered ones. Conclusion: The preferences for direct gaze face are on the straight line with the adaptation of evolution; The preferences for masculine face with direct gaze are consistent with the traditional gender role theory; The preferences for direct gaze of un-partnered students may facilitate efficient allocation of mating effort.
