桑格尔夫人访华和中国生育节制运动的兴起

MRS. SANGER’S VISIT AND THE RISE OF CHINA’S BIRTH CONTROL MOVEMENT

桑格尔夫人是美国节育理论家和实践家,也是具有世界影响的节育运动领导人。1922年桑格尔夫人访华,为中国传入较为系统、较为现代的西方生育节制理论和方法,促进了中国生育节制运动的兴起和发展,在中国形成了一股生育节制思潮,这有利于科学生育观在中国社会上的逐步树立。

Mrs. Sanger was the birth control theorist and practitioner of the United States, also was the birth control movement leader with the world influence. In 1922 Mrs. Sanger visited China, introduced some more systematic, more modern Western theories and methods of birth control to China, facilitated the rise and development of China~ birth control movement, formed a birth control ideolog- ical trend in China. The situation is advantageous to setting up the scientific birth concept in China gradually.
