Characteristics and functions of media in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia

针对媒介在特定地域条件下的区别性,采用传播学的视角解读埃及和两河流域这两大古典文明的特性,以求解析文明的走向和发展过程。分析了时间和空间是任何一种媒介都具备的属性,而两者在媒介中的地位并不平衡,不同媒介具有不同的空间时间之间的比重,而不同的比重所在正是媒介特性所系,最终表明:具有这样或那样特性的媒介作为可能的因素之一决定文明。

In view of media distinctiveness in particular regional conditions,communication theory was adopted to elaborate on individual characteristics,trend and development process of two classical civilizations in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia.All media have two properties of time and space which are not of the same weight.Different ratios of time to space of different media relate to their distinguishing characteristics.Findings show that media of distinguishing characteristics,as one of possible elements,determine civilizations.
