Constitution,physiological characteristic,pathological characteristic and syndrome reflect the different state of vital process from various angles and levels.There are differences in the cause,degree and features among them.They can＇t mutually cover each other although there are some intersections among them.The conceptions of the former four are explained in this article,their connotation and extension,their relationship are interpreted as well.It is considered that the concept of health state covers that of constitution,physiological characteristic,pathological characteristic and syndrome.So the recognition of the state is the key point to discern the condition of health and disease.
