Objective:To observe the effect of Shangxiao Decoction to peripheral blood cell and inflammatory factor of esophageal injury of rats and to investigate the mechanism. Methods:One hundred SD male rats were randomly divided into 5 groups:blank control group, model group, saline group, western medicine group and Shangxiao Decoction group. The upper paragraph esophaguses of all rats except those in the blank group were given single doses of radiation of 43Gy by 6MV-X ray.The changes of physiological conditions after radiation were investigated.Ten rats in each group were randomly killed humanely on the 7th and 14th day after irradiation. The serum inflammation-inducing factors' levels of IL-1,IL-6,TNF-α and the leucocyte count and different in Peripheral blood were detected. Results:After irradiation, the rats presented the performance of the acute radiotherapy-induced esophagitis such as intaking water and feed's reducing and body weight's dropping.Shangxiao Decoction could improved the whole conditions.Compared with the model group, the count of peripheral blood lymphocyte in the Shangxiao Decoction group was higher(P0.05).The levels of IL-1,TNF-α and neutrophil were lower in the Shangxiao Decoction group than in the model group(P0.05).Conclusion:Traditional chinese medicine shang xiao decoction can reduce the acute radiation esophageal injury and its mechanism may be relevant to inhibiting the expression of inflammation-inducing factors, promoting lymphocyte recovery.
