Objective To evaluate the quantitative assessment of repairing effect of freckles using human-like collagen after intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment using VISIATM complexion analysis system and SOFT 5.5 skin property system. Methods Fifty patients with freckles were divided randomly into two groups. One group was a- dopted with facial mask of human-like collagen (1 piece/d) for 1 week after IPL treatment and then two times per week for 3 weeks. The other group was used as parallel control group. After one week and one months were evaluated and analyzed using VISIATM complexion analysis system which was performed at 1 week and 1 month respectively, SOFT 5.5 skin property system was used to perform the quantitative analysis of skin. Results Compared with the control group, VISIA data in the collagen group, texture, pore and porphyropsin had statistical significance at 1 week ( P 〈 0. 05) and pore also had statistical significance at 1 month ( P 〈 0.05) ; SOFY data appeared, moisture and greases had significant difference at 1 week ( P 〈 0. 05 ) and moisture, elasticity and greases had significant difference at 1 month (P〈0.05). The pH in the collagen group had statistical significance at 1 month comparing with that before treatment ( P 〈 0. 05). Conclusion Human-like collagen could obviously increase skin moisture and greases and improve skin texture after IPL treatment at the first week. Long term application of human-like collagen could increase skin moisture and improve skin texture in a certain degree.
