Three Faces:Contemporary British Historiographic Metafiction and History

当代英国元小说的特征主要包括对历史真实的怀疑、对历史中对立过程的前景化和对历史的个人化叙述。较之以因果逻辑为基础的理论话语,以当代英国元小说为代表的强调不确定性、矛盾性和个体化的虚构话语更能展现出后现代语境下历史的复杂生态。

The paper aims at a sketch of the representation of history in contemporary British historiographic metafiction,which embraces a sense of hesitation in front of historical truth,the foregrounding of paradoxical processes and a highly personal tone in narrating history.The paper points out that in comparison with theoretical discourse based on cause-and-effect fictional discourse,as represented by the fiction discussed in the paper,which foregrounds uncertainty,paradox and individualization,is more conductive in illustrating the complex picture of history in the postmodern context.
