以《全唐诗》中所存关于古琴描写的诗歌以及琴曲歌辞来看,唐人的古琴审美主要包括:择幽静处而鼓琴,以简静指法聆听"琴心",不仅关注琴艺,还注重欣赏琴德以及味外疏淡意趣的特点——"无弦琴"意象是最好的诠释。另外,由于唐代昂扬壮大的时代风气,在士人渴望建功立业的人生理想影响下,此时的古琴音乐又呈现出一种慷慨悲音的美感特质。
