Objective: To understand the situation of the transporters involved in the transport of antiviral drugs in kidney, and provide advices for further study. Method: Review related literatures about the research status of transporters mediated antiviral drugs in kidney. Results: Organic anion transporters (OAT1 - 3) and organic cation transporters (OCT1-3) mediate the intracellular flux, and adenosine 5' -triphosphate (ATP) binding cassette transporters (P-gp,MRP2-5) mediate the cellular efflux of antiviral drugs. The peptide transporters (PEPT1-2) mediate bi-directional facilitated diffusion of valacyclovir. Conclusions: Transporters play an important role in the regulation of antiviral drugs concentration in body by mediating the antiviral drugs flux and efflux in kidney.
