Comparative study on modern silk industry of Shanghai,Suzhou and Hangzhou

上海近代丝织业起步虽晚,却在短期内超过江南传统的丝绸产地,成为江南丝织业的重镇。通过对上海、江苏、杭州三地丝织业的生产方式、生产原料、生产工具和生产动力的对比分析,探讨上海为何能够超越苏杭,成为近代江南丝织业的发展中心。

Silk industry started late in modern Shanghai, Jiangnan in a short time, and turned into the important but it exceeded the traditional silk producing area of silk producing area of Jiangnan. This paper makes a comparative analysis of producing mode, producing material, producing tool and producing power in Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou; and discusses why Shanghai could exceed Suzhou and Hangzhou, turned into the silk industry center of modern Jiangnan.
