科技英语(EST)的翻译在实用翻译中占很大比重,而长句在科技性的英语文本中出现得极为频繁;由于英汉两种语言在句法结构上差异较大,加之科技英语术语较多、专业性强、词性转化多等特点,对译者准确理解原文及贴切地表达译文产生诸多困难。本文结合实例探讨科技英语翻译中长句处理的基本方法和有效策略。

The translation of English for Scientific and Technology（EST）,in practice,has taken up a large proportion and long sentences in texts of science and technology occur much frequently.Owning to major syntactic differences between Chinese and English,together with such features of EST as numerous technical words and the frequent shift of word class,translators often feel it hard to accurately understand the original text and faithfully translate.This paper,with practical examples,aims to explore some basic and effective strategies in this regard.
