Audrey A. Fisch＇s The Cambridge Companion to the African-American Slave Narrative focuses on the development and the characteristics of African American Slave Narrative. This book demonstrates that as a main tradition of African American literature, this genre is closely related to American history and culture. It has much to do with the construction of race identity as well as the identity of African American literature. Its maturation was accompanied with interaction of other American literary genres, and its characteristics manifest a double identity of ＂Americanism＂ and ＂Afro-Americanism＂.
