A Contrastive Analysis between their Marriage and Birth

委婉语既是一种语言现象,也是一种社会现象和文化现象。委婉语自产生之日起,就担负着人们交际的"润滑"作用。英汉两种语言都存在大量的委婉语。本文仅从社会价值观和民族文化特征两大角度来探讨英汉婚姻、生育委婉语的差异。

Euphemism is a phenomenon of both languages and society and culture,playing an important role.＂There would be so many troubles without it（D.J.Enright 1985）＂.Therefore,there are a number of euphemisms in both English and Chinese.The article aims to make a contrastive analysis of their marriage and birth from social value and culture characteristics.
