文学翻译中的语义引申机制

A Discussion on the Semantic Extension Mechanism in Literary Translation

人对于语言意义的理解是与人的主观体验紧密相关的,语言意义从文化层面上说既有经验的相似性,又有经验的个人性。文学翻译是文学文本语言意义以及审美经验的跨文化传递,既要考虑语义对应,又要考虑译语读者的认知体验和审美影响,所以在翻译中,译者必定要适应语境、主题倾向和文学性要求,对于做出恰当的引申。通过文学文本的翻译分析,我们发现语义引申受到相关因素的限制,一味的引申也可能造成文学审美效果的亏损,使译语读者失去独特的审美体验。

The understanding of the meaning of a language is closely related to an individual＇s personal experience.Culturally speaking,the meaning is concerned with not only the similarities but also the differences in experience.Literary translation can be taken as a process of delivering the meaning and aesthetic experience from one culture to another,in which one has to take into account the TL reader＇s cognitive experience and aesthetic impression and the semantic correspondence as well.So in translation the translator ought to extend the meanings appropriately by adapting to such requirements as context,thematic inclination and literariness.After a careful analysis of the examples from translated works,we can see that the semantic extension is confined by some related factors.Semantic extensions without considering the things mentioned before can only result in the loss of aesthetic effects of literary works,and therefore,deny the TL readers the opportunity of having a new,original experience.
