在上世纪60年代以前,日本电影以传统风格为主,进入60年代,以大岛渚为代表的日本"新浪潮"的出现完全颠覆了传统的内容和风格,90年代以来,日本电影形成一个独特的景观,较之传统电影有创新,而又回归了传统的内核。本文以90年代以来出现的这样一些新元素的电影作为主要研究对象,并与前两个时期的大风格进行比较,试图以电影作为一个独特的切入点来探求背后的文化内涵、文化变迁的轨迹以及文化的走向。
