In 1990,"The Piano Lesson" by Wilson was awarded with the Putizer Prize for a second time.With the popularity of the trauma theory,rereading of the drama makes the readers believe it is a trauma drama about African Americans.This drama starts to illustrate the opposite attitudes of the sister Bernice and her brother Willie towards the piano,which was inherited from their ancestors,then describes the history of their family and portrays the sister and brother's hard life path from being lost to winning the rebirth of themselves after the trauma caused by the misfortune of their family.
