The 1898 Reform: Modernity and Rule of Transition in Chinese Literature

古代中国文学在维新变法前后向现代文学开始全面转换,其前提是"世界文学"的背景和"现代民族国家想象",所呈现出的现代性特征不只是单一的文学作品而是全方位的:创作主体的现代化是关键所在,文学观念更新先行或并行于创作实践,创作实绩乃文学现代性的复杂载体,四大文体组成现代中国文学的基本格局,翻译文学是中国现代转换的重要维度,而"中体西用"则是中国文学实现现代化的特殊规律。

The whole transition from ancient Chinese literature to modern one began in the period of the 1898 Reform, whose preconditions are the background of ＂world literature＂ and ＂imagination of modern national countries＂, so its modernity is various. Authors are the key. Literary ideas are changed or go with literary works with modernity. Four literary genres consist in the basic pattern of Chinese literature. Translation literature is an important component of literary modernity. ＂China＇ s body and Western function＂ is a special rule in the modern transition of Chinese literature.
