关于晚清社会思潮问题的几点思考——以大众传媒为视角

Some Ideas on the Social Thoughts in the Late Qing Dynasty—— From the Angle of Mass Media

从大众传媒的角度看,思想传者与受者之间必借助相应传播媒介方能形成思想辐射的互动态势。近代精英思想家,亦必借助传播媒介,使其思想或主张扩散至普通民众并在改造社会的实践中形成日臻成熟的理论体系,兼备社会性和民众性,方能成潮。晚清以降,至甲午战前,是近代中国社会思潮的酝酿和萌芽期,仅有精英思想或思想家之思想,并无形成或出现严格意义上的社会思潮。甲午一役,是近代中国精英思想与社会思潮的分水岭。

Looked at from the angle of mass media,the interaction between the thought disseminators and the targeted recipients can only be enabled through appropriate media or channels.When it comes to China’s pre-modern elitist thoughts,their ideas or proposals can be developed into certain trends only by being publicized among the populace and being shaped into theoretical systems in the practical process of remoulding the society.The trends thus formed possess both the social and epochal features.The duration from the late Qing Dynasty till the break of the Sino-Japanese War in 1894 is the burgeoning period of pre-modern China’s social thoughts.Throughout the period,what appeared are merely elitist ideas rather than any social trends of thoughts in the strict sense.Hence,ideas of administration,westernization and earlier reformation should be labeled as elitist thoughts instead of trends of social thoughts.The War between China and Japanese in 1894 should be accordingly regarded as the watershed dividing the elitist thoughts and trends of social thoughts of pre-modern China.And it is since the end of the 1894 Sino-Japanese War that the pre-modern witnessed the true growth and transformation of various trends of social thoughts.
