在世界的确定性和不确定性中间存在着一个巨大的连续统,而具有反映世界功能的自然语言也包含大量的表达确定性和不确定性的方式。以经验主义和归纳逻辑为基础的概率哲学思想则为研究语言中的这一连续统提供了理论和方法上的支持。本文在梳理概率哲学的发展基础上介绍了概率语言学家Ariel Cohen运用概率哲学思想对自然语言中的包含频率副词和集合名词的语句加以解读,以期增进对频率副词和集合名词进行概率哲学语义分析的了解。

There is a big continuum between the certainty and uncertainty in the world,and the natural language re？ ecting the world also has a multitude of expressions about certainty and uncertainty.Probability Philosophy,which is based on empiricism and inductive logic,provides theoretical and technical support for the study of the continuum.This paper summarizes the development of probability philosophy and introduces Ariel Cohen’s probabilistic interpretation of sentences using frequency adverbs and generics in natural language,hoping to enhance our understanding of the semantic analysis of frequency adverbs and generics.
