切斯特曼的认知模因翻译策略将语言认知中的学习策略和交际策略作为理论背景,探讨翻译策略的实际应用。它在具体的翻译方法层面对翻译策略研究做出了贡献。主要体现在:论证将认知模因作为翻译策略的理论形态,对翻译策略过程进行认知行为理论的解释,并且建立起关于翻译策略的三个角度、三个层面及其下三十多个级阶的具体分类。该理论在策略动因分析、理论解释和译者研究等方面还可以进一步拓展。

Chesterman＇s cognitive memes model for translation strategies is based on the theoretical backgrounds of learning and communicating strategies in language cognition,and it explores translation strategies in real application.It contributes to studies of translation strategies in specific methods,which manifests itself as the followings： proving the feasibility of memes as translation strategies,explaining the process of translation strategies with cognitive action theory,and setting up the classifications of translation strategies from three angles,three levels and more than thirty ranks attached to them.Nevertheless,it can be further explored in analyzing the motives of translation strategy,interpreting theoretical levels and translator studies.
