A Biography of Emotions—on the Emotions of the Hulan River

一部《呼兰河传》几乎可以看作萧红短暂一生的回眸中所生情绪的总汇。主要表现为"叙事者的心绪总是在悲凉和温暖两极之间循环"。当沉浸在关于祖父和后花园的美好记忆时,调子是温暖的;而一旦落入严寒混沌的小城世相,悲凉的情调便氤氲起来。这构成了整部小说的贯穿性主调。《呼兰河传》真正的主角不是"呼兰河",也不是萧红,而是作者的情绪。

The Hulan River could be seen as a summary of all emotions of Xiao Hong,the author’s short life.In the novel,the narrator’s feelings are always circulated between desolation and warmth.The tone of the novel is warm when immersing in the nice memories by concerning grandfather and the nice garden,while it becomes cold when falling into the strict and cold lives of the small city.These two constitute the main theme of the whole novel.That is the true role of the Hulan River.
