An Investigation into the Militiamen of Li Nationality in Hainan

"黎兵"是古代海南地方政府控制的以黎族人为主组成的一支军队,是一种"乡兵"性质的地方武装。其主要作用是为了协助官军防御和镇压黎族人民的反抗、稳定和维护海南地方的统治秩序。本文梳理了黎兵从出现直到消亡的近千年历史的发展脉络,对唐宋、元、明、清各个时期的黎兵都进行了详细的探讨和研究。

＂The militiamen of the Li nationality＂was the army that was mostly made up by people of the Li nationality which were controlled by the local government in ancient Hainan.It was the provincial armed forces belonging to the country militiamen.The militiamen of the Li nationality played a main role of giving official army assistance to defense against and put down the revolts from the Li nationality.Beyond that,it also stabilized and maintained order of the local governance in Hainan.In this article,the author will not only reveal the historical process about the militiamen of the Li nationality in the nearly 1000 years from the time when it appeared to the time when it disappeared.But also,the author will discuss and research the militiamen of the Li nationality in the Tang and Song,Yuan,Ming and Qing Dynasty detailedly.
