Chinese Enterprises' Investment in Cambodia and Its Impact

China＇s growing investment in Cambodia has generated many concerns and significant discussions during the last several years. Unfortunately, most of these debates suffer badly from too few facts because it is very difficult for researchers to gain access to Chinese investors to collect sufficient and reliable information. This paper, using three months＇ in-depth interview data gathered from about 20 Chinese companies in Cambodia, tries to provide a more comprehensive picture of the scope and impact of Chinese investment in Cambodia. It addresses the extent and impact of Chinese investment on local communities in Cambodia. And it argues that Chinese investment and its impact in Cambodia have been a little exaggerated or somewhat overstated.
