摘要美国作家赫尔曼.麦尔维尔的《白鲸》是19世纪的一部宏篇巨作,作者从白色的意义、白色的本质以及对白色的追寻这几个层面,挖掘出白色所隐含的种族歧视问题,探讨了其中所蕴藏着的反种族歧视的萌芽,表明了麦尔维尓对自己的内心世界、对种族问题所进行的艰难而又痛苦的探索与思考。 Moby Dick by Herman Melville is a masterpiece in the 19th century. The writer tries to find out the deep meaning of the white color in it. it implies his criticism against racial discrimination in the American society dominated by the Anglo-Saxon race and culture. The writer analyzes the original meaning of the white color, its nature and people＇s pursuit of it, reflecting his hard and painful thoughts about racism.
