Energy in language and seizing energy in language:the study of Pound's translation "Taking Leave of a Friend"

庞德《送友人》译诗以语势为尚,通过义象、形象、音象取势。译诗精确翻译个别词语,词语中注入情势;不尚抽象,打破英诗句法,再现汉诗具象美;越过语词直逼原诗意象,有时亦发挥译者主体性创造意象,再现原诗意境;但较之词语甚至句子的意义,更重音韵节奏、意象意境,特别是动态意象。

＂Taking Leave of a Friend＂,Ezra Pound＇s translation of Li Bai＇s Song You Ren,aims at seizing energy in language by way of melopoeia,phanopoeia,and logopoeia.His translation shows a precise rendering of individual words,charging words with emotion.It ＂Goes in fear of abstraction,＂ departing from English syntactic structure.It reveals the beauty of images in Chinese classical poems.It shows Pound＇s superb poetic acumen by seizing images across words.Sometimes Pound also creates images,successfully rendering overall atmosphere.His translation puts emphasis less on the meaning of words,even sentences,more on sound and rhythm,images and atmosphere,dynamic images in particular.
