On the Doctrines of Mean Thought in Chinese Traditional Translation Theory

面对西方译论重理论的强势形象,中国传统译论因其偏重经验和感悟而曾一度被边缘化,然而在时间上已经结束的中国传统译论对于重新认识当代翻译理论具有深远意义。分析内化于传统译论的翻译思想、翻译策略和译者身份定位等三方面的哲学基础,即"中庸"之道,旨在揭示传统译论的无穷魅力以及对当代翻译理论与实践的指导意义。

Facing the strong image of Western translation theory that emphasizes constructing certain translating theories, Chinese traditional translation theory has ever been marginalized for its emphasis on translators＇experience and feeling during translation. However, even though it has ended chronologically, it still has the profound meaning in re- recognizing contemporary translating theory. By analyzing the philosophical basis - - - the doctrine of mean thought of Chinese traditional translation theory from perspectives of traditional translating thoughts, translation strategies and the identification of translators, this paper attempts to reveal the infinite charm of Chinese traditional translation theory and its instructive significance for contemporary translation theory and oractice.
