Unity of Opposites in Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience

WiUiam Blake occupies an important place in the English literature with his unique writing style. This paper intends to analyse, from contrasting settings and characters, diverse images and symbols, con^ry tones and moods, his lyrics -Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. These two Songs illustrate the ＂Two Contrary States of Human Soul＂ -Innocence and Experience, which are dependent and complementary to each other, and both are necessary to hnman existence. Innocence and Experience exist reasonably like ＂The Lamb （good）＂ and ＂The Tiger （evil） 1＂ because both of which are creations d God. And it is this unity d opposites that determines human existence and pushes forward the human society.
