On Mo Yan's Standpoint of the Populace Reflected in Penalty Using Sandalwood

莫言的近作《檀香刑》被认为是体现其努力转向民间立场的一次重大尝试,但是其民间立场因为带有鲜明的个性而引起了关于小说中历史、刑罚和爱欲的争论。本文认为《檀香刑》实际上体现的是莫言带有强烈知识分子批判眼光的民间立场,是莫言一贯的民族悲剧、民族根性和民族生命力主题的重申,是一种莫言式的民间立场。

Penalty Using Sandalwood was an attempt Mo Yan made to turn toward the standpoint of the populace which resulted in an argument about the history, penalty and love. The author of this essay thinks that it in fact reflected the strong standpoint of populace with a critical eye of the intellectual. It restated the theme of the national tragedy, nature and vitality, which is Mo Yan＇ s standpoint of the populace.
