Li-Miao Ethnic Relationship in the Past Twenty Years since the Establishment of Hainan Special Economic Zone

海南经济特区的建立使海南黎族、苗族的政治、经济、文化处于急剧变迁的背景中,黎、苗民族关系也呈现出新变化、新格局:黎、苗关系向好发展始终是两族关系的主旋律;互相离不开是两族关系发展的客观现实;友好与矛盾并存在是两族关系的新特点;"和而不同"是未来两族关系发展的趋势。

The establishment of Hainan Special Economic Zone （SEZ） brought Li and Miao people radical changing background in politics, economy, and culture. Under such circumstance, ethnic relationship between Li and Miao people presented new change and pattern ： the sound development of Li-Miao ethnic relationship has al- ways been the theme ; being inseparable from each other is the objective reality between the two ; the co-existence of amity and conflicts shows the new feature of the relationship; and ＂to be harmonious but different＂ is the fu- ture trend of the development of both.
