My Life as a Fake is a postmodern novel with the theoretical intent. While reconstructing Australian historical narrative ,the author Peter Carey integrates theories of fiction into complicated characters and plots of the book. This paper, in light of intertextual writing, performative narration, and language-game, endeavors to reveal and explore its prominent characteristics of postmoderu theoretical novel through expounding the primary relationships between truth and fiction, author and reader, reader and text, and text and language embodied in the novel. The subversive rewriting of "Eru Malley hoax" by Peter Carey through "Chinese box" not only exhibits the subjectivity of historical narration and displays the making process of fictionality, but also makes the reader perceive that fiction is nothing but a stuff of language-game whose meaning derives from the constant negotiation of construction and deconstruction.
