论翻译的主观性

On Subjectivity of Translation

长期以来,翻译理论一直倡导翻译应客观忠实地再现原文而反对主观性。然而,诸多翻译理论的逻辑指向、翻译主体的自然属性、翻译语言的主观性以及翻译过程的主观性识解都表明翻译存在不可避免的主观性。这种主观性主要通过翻译主体意识的选择性、情感性和创造性等形式表现出来。承认主观性并不是对翻译客观性的否定,而是对翻译本质的一种辩证认识。

Over a long time, translation theory has been advocating the objectivity and faithfulness in the reproduction of the original text and opposing the subjectivity. However, the logic indications of many translation theories, the nature of human being as translation subject, the subjectivity of translation language and the subjective construal of translation all make clear that the subjectivity is unavoidable in translation, which are mainly presented in forms of selectivity, sensibility and creativity of translation subject consciousnesses. Accepting this subjectivity doesn＇t mean the denial of translation objectivity but the dialectic cognition of translation essence.
