Coming from the past and influencing the future, the primary education in Song dynasty was very important in the history. In this paper, educational institutions, educational content, teaching materials and educators of the primary education in Song dynasty were discussed. Aiming at discussing the useful inspiration for modem education, this article analyzes the causes of primary education in Song dynasty from thought control, social trends, ethics, education system, science and technology, and physical and mental development of children.
